Outdoor background - shading part 2 (Render engine choice)

At first, I decided to use Pixar's RenderMan in Maya to finish my project. But in the process of using blender to generate the city model, I found that there is a special render engine called “Eevee” in blender. The render speed and workspace preview speed of it is extremely fast. The speed is 5 to 10 time quicker than a traditional PBR render engine like RenderMan. I can get a real time preview even if I make some complicated shaders and special effects in the scene. I can tweak those emission and volume shaders more precise without forcing myself to endure a lagging preview window.

Single frame rendered with Eevee, rendering finished in 2 seconds:

Single frame rendered with Cycles (PBR renderer in blender), rendering finished in 4 minutes:

Although using PBR renderer can get a more physical correct lighting, it is not necessary in my animation project. My main character is rendered in toon shader, the background does not need to be so realistic. Thus, the “incorrect lighting” in Eevee is not a problem to me. And I finally chose Eevee as the render engine that I will use to finish my project.
