Outdoor background - shading part 5 (Greeble block second version)
After confirming to use Eevee renderer for my project. I have to migrate my shader of the greeble block from maya to blender.
Greeble block rendered in Maya:
Greeble block rendered under city scene environment in blender:
As the scene setting in blender is quite dark. All metallic shininess will be lost in here. So, I modified it for a few times so that the style of the block can fit into the scene.
The first edition is to exaggerate the light emission on it. And gave it a glowing rim by the “layer weight” node in blender. Faces on the block mesh which is having a facing normal that pointing away from the camera will have a sharp and bright light emission.
The second edition is a double layered transparent cube which have multiple layers of Voronoi texture as its surface pattern:
The final version combined both and made extra modification above it.
The original greeble pattern is masked out by the Voronoi noise pattern. Half of the block has a glowing greeble pattern and half of it have a glazed glass shader. I also add a wireframe modifier on it, so that it can have thicker white bright edges. I addition, these pattern can be animated and varies along time.
